Weddings in Zanzibar

For couples looking for both excitement & time to relax in the sun.  Zanzibar offers a perfect location for a wedding & honeymoon. Zanzibar is however really the most exotic and perfect location for a different and exciting African beach wedding.

The weather is hot all year round (approx. 27 degrees) but is best May to March. April & beginning of may are wet months. Civil weddings are usually held in hotel grounds or on the beach. It is possible for Church weddings. You will need a letter from you church at home proving you are free to marry for a religious ceremony. We offer the full beach wedding package and the stunning Dhow wedding package in Zanzibar.  Please enquire.

The island is steeped in culture and home to winding alleys, carved doors and the cool courtyards of Stone Town, through the domed bath houses of Sultans, and out on the expanses of the white powder sand of its stunning beaches.

We have created wedding itineraries which range from the simple to the elaborate…whichever you choose you can rest assured that your wedding day will be in the most romantic of settings with great attention to detail, personal touches and the assistance of the entire team to assure that your wedding will be both memorable and unique.

We have two legal wedding packages to choose from. The Beach Wedding as laid out in detail below or you could choose the Dhow Wedding. The Dhow is a traditional boat that is decorated beautifully and the vows are then exchanged about 100 meters out at sea. Very romantic. Regardless of whichever hotel you choose as your wedding haven in Zanzibar, these weddings can be arranged from any one of them.

THE BEACH WEDDING IN ZANZIBAR

• You will be collected from the resort of your choice and transported to the beautiful beach at Mtoni.
• Bride & Groom, gather on the white beaches of Mtoni at the “chapel” of palms and draped netting.
• Wedding ceremonies take place in the ‘chapel’ on the beach at sunset, after which a toast with Champagnoise will be made.
• You are then seated in the middle of the beach at a candlelit table garnished with crystal and silver and the beach naturally lit with burning torches, lanterns and open fire place. You then wine and dine a three course set menu to celebrate your love.
• All legalities are included and you have a choice of an Anglican priest or a registrar to conduct the ceremony. These fees are included.
• 36 undeveloped photos (additional photographs can be arranged)
• Live Ngoma drums and dancers to welcome the bridal couple
• 20 roses
• A glass of sparkling wine each after vows have been exchanged
• Transport is included

THE DHOW WEDDING

• You are transported to Stone Town Harbour at around 16h00 on the day of your wedding.
• The Dhow is waiting for you, beautifully decorated with flowers, silk cushions and drapings, and palm tree leaves.
• The ceremony is performed by an Anglican Minister or Registrar about 100 meters out to sea. All legalities are taken care of.
• After the ceremony and toasts, sails are hoisted and you are sailed off into the sunset with the beautiful Stone Town city in the background.
• After sunset you arrive by boat at Mtoni Marine.
• A huge bon fire greets you. Torches light the way to your private little dining area and you’re led over the sands by live Ngoma drums and dancers.
• You end the most romantic evening of your lives with the delicious dinner for two.
• You are then transported back to your hotel to continue your stay in Zanzibar as Mr and Mrs.
• 36 wedding photos are included or 200 photos on a DVD
• 20 roses are included OR locally grown flowers to add flavour
• A glass of sparkling wine each is included.
• All legalities are included.
