Breezes – 5 Star

The rooms
The rooms at Breezes Beach Club are situated in lush, palm-lined gardens a short distance from the beach. All the rooms are identical in terms of size, décor and facilities, but the suites have a walk-in dressing room and larger bathroom. The suites and deluxe rooms are also closer to the sea than the standard rooms. The deluxe rooms have outdoor terraces, while the suites have the advantage of balconies where you can sunbathe in relative privacy and, from some, enjoy a view of the Indian Ocean.

Price will probably be the determining factor, but whichever room you choose you’ll be welcomed with fresh flowers on your bedspread and have the convenience of air conditioning, a hairdryer in the bathroom, a mini-bar fridge, an electronic safe, an en-suite bathroom and a sofa bed to sleep a third person. Telephones, the Internet and a television are available at the main lodge only - after all, the idea of a beach holiday is to get away from all the noise and distractions of modern life.

The double-storey blocks of rooms aren’t as aesthetically pleasing from the outside as they are from within. The interiors are spacious and elegantly decorated - clean, modern rooms with just a hint of Zanzibar. You won’t find the traditional Swahili furniture and décor, which are a feature of many of the other hotels on this island.

Dining
Breezes has four restaurants. In the evenings Salama provides a four-course table d’hote dinner or a themed buffet with local entertainment. For something more elegant with views over the ocean, Makuti offers a candle-lit a la carte menu specialising in seafood (think fresh lobster and catch of the day). Makuti is quite popular, so make sure to place your order for dinner in the morning of the day at reception.
Honeymooners are treated to a private beachfront dining area called The Tides. They only accommodate two people per evening and offer a special menu (The Tides is also available to non-honeymooners, but make sure to book in advance).
For lunch, Breakers is conveniently located under the palms on the beachfront. They’re known for their good fresh meat and seafood barbeque. Breakfast is a hearty buffet at Salama and afternoon tea and cakes are served in the lounge. The buffets are generous and delicious, but you won’t be getting a real taste of traditional Swahili cuisine.
The Breezes restaurants can cater for vegetarians but be sure to let us know of your special requirements well in advance.

Location: Breezes Beach Club is situated near the small village of Bwejuu on the East Coast of Zanzibar. It is 60km from the airport, approximately a 90-minute drive.

If you’re after a romantic island wedding, we will arrange an unforgettable ceremony.

Honeymooners will also enjoy the romantic charm of Breezes with special surprises during your stay. All honeymoon guests receive a complimentary bottle of wine and flowers upon arrival in all room categories.

For newlyweds staying in the suites, an ‘under the stars’ evening can also be arranged. The staff put out a fully made bed on the balcony and provide sundowners in your room.

A barbeque lunch is also included if you stay for seven nights or more.
